¡Buenas! A little about me and my Spanish language journey. I am from a monolingual (English speaking) family in Iowa. Curious about travel and other cultures, I earned a degree in Spanish from the University of Iowa. I even spent two semesters in Latin America. When I graduated I could read Don Quixote but I couldn’t have a fluid conversation with a native speaker. That seemed like an impossible goal.

Fast forward 15 years and my Spanish was almost non-existent. I spent 8 weeks in Panama studying at a Spanish language school. By the time I left, I had many meaningful conversations with local Panamanians. It was an amazing experience that taught me the “secret” to becoming fluent in Spanish – you must practice speaking Spanish with a professional, experienced Spanish tutor.

I decided to bring my experience to Americans who wanted to speak Spanish. So, I started Custom Spanish Lessons Online with that mission.
